Sentimentality with Diane Boden

Listen in iTunes | Listen in Stitcher | Listen in Spotify

This is episode 45 and today I’m here with Diane Boden talking about sentimentality.

Diane Boden is the voice behind the top-rated podcast, the Minimalist Moms, where she spreads her ideas and interviews others in regards to living a life in the pursuit of less. Her goal is simply: think more and do with less. Diane has been featured on Minimal-ish Podcast, The Pure Nurture Podcast, The 29 Minute Mom and many others. She was featured in 614Magazine in August 2019. She lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and three children.

Thriving in Quarantine

I share our open kitchen policy in response to a lot of parental frustration in the community around kids begging parents for food all day.

Emotions: We discuss why it is so much harder to simplify the sentimental.

Narrative: We offer advice for people holding on to things that make them feel bad.

Criteria: We explain what criteria we recommend to help people decide what to keep and what to let go of.

Use: We go over what we can do with keepsakes we choose to keep.

Photos: We walk through how we store our older photos.

Digital Keepsakes: We share how our digital keepsakes are organized and stored.

Q & A

We answer the questions “What tips do you have for declining sentimental items from family? What do you do when someone wants to give you something that was important to them, but you really don’t want it?” and “How do you work through sentimental items of a partner’s while you work together to declutter certain spaces, especially when the partner is known to be very attached to such items?”
